DD and I are building a playhouse coop for our bantams. We have it 90% done, but now we need to add a run. Ive been thinking about a pvc hoop type run. I have welded wire I want to use and will add hardware cloth around the bottom. Was wondering everyones thoughts on this and pictures that I can look at. What size of pipe? and how to secure it. Thanks for any info.

A young man I know raises birds for their hunting reserve business and he told me he takes metal fence posts, cuts them in half, (I am using 5 footers) puts them in the ground with several inches sticking up, put the pipe down over the end of one post, and bend it over to the other one . . .he said it works great for them, and they didn't have one collapse with all the snow we had this year. That is what we are going to do for the chickens. Making it portable would be a great idea too. . .but wonder if that would be hard to move around with weight of the framing?

this is ours
..

after it was all done we found hardware cloth on CL and added over top the welded wire and bird netting. Squirrels were able to get through the welded wire. So we were pleased to find a great deal on CL for hardware cloth.

look forward to seeing yours! Look around on BYC~we got our idea for our pvc run from another member here and then modified it.

I like this one. Simple. I would use wire instead of the plastic if it's going to be your perm. run.

I like this one
