Identifying a predator

Quote: If anyone thinks that 'coons "only" are out and about hunting at night.... you are very much mistaken. They are primarily nocturnal but, I've been an avid hunter nearly 50 years and have watched many, many coons out hunting on creek banks, attacking squirrels, mice, raiding bird nests as well as attacking chickens during mid day hours. They'll hunt and eat when they're hungry... day and/or night. Don't dismiss a coon simply because an attack occurs during daylight hours.

I did not know that!

I have not seen anything doing that. I have had one raccoon and we caught and moved it. I am pretty sure what got my last chicken was a hawk. Everyone was a great help and I am glad to hear any info or tips. Thankfully I have not lost another bird but I did move them. I do think I will have to cover the chicken area. :)
