Many of these around my coop. Chickens have been outside in the coop for approx 3 weeks. Hardware clothe used and buried to 1' depth...not sure if that would keep dogs/coyotes out though.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Looks like a dog track. It's a bit too big to be a coyote.

I think your buried fencing is probably adequate, but I recently learned that raccoons have no problem climbing up 6 feet of chain link fencing. I just installed an electric fence to encircle my enclosure.

Looks like a dog to me. No cat tracks would show a claw mark, which is clearly visible. A bear would have a rear pug mark that would look much different than the front.
I've seen some pretty big dog prints. The photo is misleading, too. The claw should not be included in the measure and the tape is well ahead of the claw.

I gotchya... it's definitely a good 5" though. I'm in Southeastern Massachusetts. I was thinking dog too. My neighbor has a shepard mix that they clearly can not control and they joke about it by saying, "do you know anyone who would like a dog?" Ya - wicked funny. I think electric fence is next.

We have Coy-dogs here in Louisiana and some of the prints I've seen in the woods and swamps are about five inches long. Definite canine though. Get the electric fence out cuz those animals are smart!
