identifying my 17 day old mystery chick????? *UPDATED PICS- 4 WEEKS!*

Looks like my buff rock when she was a chick... I will see if I can find pics...

one min... Edited to add the picture. Shes the one standing on the top of the feeder. I cant seem to find her individual baby pic... Gosh she was a pudgy little thing!

Nevermind.. yours is looking to be way too light colored to be a buff on those wings. Mixed breed?? I don't know. LOL sorry!

Gabby (buff rock) again.. alittle older: You can still see the lighter colored fluff still being shed out. But yours is A LOT lighter than this....


I'm thinking Yours may be more along the lines of a Red Star.... I don't have any good pics of a red star chick though.

Gabby's head is really close in color to Rasputin's (my little guy ) and i was really just curious to how the head color was that color but the rest of their bodies were a lighter color. His feathers are coming in darker now around his shoulders and back but his wings seem to be light... they are starting to darken a little... i'll post more pictures as he gets older... and fills out more

And same i have an obscene amount of pictures its kinda obsessive!! they're my first little flock so ive been going photo crazy... Rasputin really loves the camera though!

I love the chicks that are like... whos that bird I see reflected in that shiny thing?!

My white rock ALWAYS does that But i got my first cool close up that way! Note: mine has a weird comb. It looks like a wedge halfway then it goes into a flat level with spikes.. but no arch at all. Thats a hatchery bird for ya.

it makes them unique! i have another chick that does that (i think she's an EE) sometimes but i can always count on Rasputin. I have an awesome video of him pecking the lens on my iphone camera! they seem to like anything small, dark, and/or shiny!!

As your chick gets older it should be easier to tell what breed he/she is. For the longest time I didn't know what mine are because I ordered 30+ breeds and not all were shipped, some were substitute... and of course the haterchy didn't document all the changes they made. SO it was like the "identify me" mega game I cant wait to do it again. hahaha

Still trying to pin down a few of them... But yours... I forgot.. are they hatchery? where did you get them.

i got them at a local farm by me.... but we didnt order a specific number of any type... just got assorted eggs!

so i'm in the middle of the same game right now and hopefully in a few months i can identify which ones are roosters... we can't keep roosters and our maximum number has to stay under 10 so we cant hatch any more until we know how many roosters we need to give away..
