Identifying new chicks!

Just trying to identify my new chicks that just arrived. I know for sure which ones are buff Orpingtons, and the welsummers. These have to be Blue Ameraucanas I assume. There is a pic of each chick in question and both next to each other.

I am newbie so know nothing about breeds. just came in to say they are so cute

There is almost no way to know for sure til they feather out, especially all yellow there are soooo many breeds that are just all yellow at hatching.

I only ordered Blue Ameraucana, Buff Orpington, Barred Rock, Welsummer, Easter Egger and Olive Egger. I am only trying to identify what it must be out of the ones I ordered.

Look at the leg color. If I recall correctly ameraucana's have greenish colored legs.

Actually I think it is easter eggers who have the green legs and ameraucanas have blue legs (my purebred blue and splash ameraucanas have blue legs). The middle grey chick in the bottom picture is the same color as my little blue ameraucana was so my guess would be thats what it is.

Also I forgot to add that if you ordered a blue ameraucana then you may end up with either a splash or a black one (because of the way the color genetics work).


this is a picture of my blue ameraucana chick acouple days after I got it. You can see S/he has dark blue/grey legs


This is what my splash ameraucana chick looked like at acouple days old. S/he is mostly yellow with only a hint of grey. You can see that S/he also has a light blue/grey leg and beak coloration

Great! I'm thinking I have a blue and a splash based on your pictures. The yellow one only has a hint of gray on the top of her head, the other has more gray all over.
