In the pouring rain. The littlest ones were struggling, then the adult males attacked; I had to rescue them.

They are all now shut in the garage until I am sure all the eggs she intends to hatch are hatched. Then if she wants to go swim she can just leave the ducklings with me!

LOL. That sounds exactly like the kind of mis-adventure that I would get myself into.

Just a friendly word of advice -- make sure that the little ones cannot IN ANY WAY access the bathing tub for momma duck. Keep in mind that they can jump higher than you would expect and are determined to get into water.

Today I escorted the ducklings and momma down to a little pool at the end of a culvert away from the prying eyes of the wannabe baby-killers. The little guys had a blast. Unfortunately, they're the color of mud so hard to see, but all 6 are in the photo.

Wow, that's some story.

Your mama-duck looks like my Baka. (Her name is Japanese for "Idiot") It sounds like the kind of stupid thing she might do, if she had babies.

Glad the little ones made it ok!
