Hi!

I haven't been able to locate any information addressing my concern, soooo, hopefully, some of you can answer my question. If a chicken eats a wild bird, when is it safe to eat her eggs again? The thought of eating the eggs grosses me out, especially knowing the wild birds can carry diseases, and since we recently dealt with parasites on some of our girls, which I am attributing (rightly or wrongly) to the pigeons or doves.

Thank you!

What diseases are you concerned about getting? I'm not aware of any right off that could be transmitted to a human by eating a cooked egg, but then again I'm not much on chicken diseases.

I don't have an answer but I agree about the ick factor! I went out to feed our 4 month old pullets and found them playing football with the carcass of a baby wren

I was very watchful over them for a few days but they all appear fine still, several weeks later.

I don't know much about possible diseases either...anything that the birds might be carrying...avian flu...just any parasites...anything at all. Maybe it is more the ick factor and I'm being paranoid about safety, but...Anybody?
