If hens eat layer pellets, what do roosters eat?

As long as he is in the same pen with the hens he is going to eat what they eat. Not really a big deal if he does.

I also like how my bird's feathers look with the extra protein that they are getting. I had some that were kinda peckish, and they have filled in very nicely and quick too!

I have the oyster shell out, but sometimes I mix some in with their food just to make sure that they ARE getting it. Usually if I notice the eggs shells look a little off.

Katy, is your Flock Raiser medicated? I asked the Purina people about getting some in their store here and the guy said he didn't think it came UNmedicated. I think it does.

I am not Katy but, the flock raiser I buy is not medicated.

I haven't seen the actual Flock Raiser that is medicated, since it is for other poultry, than just chickens.

But I guess they do have it in medicated.

You don't. I've never had a rooster show the least bit of interest in the egg shells I give the girls, though they'll go for other treats. They seem fairly good at picking out what they need, and ignoring the rest.

i cant find flock raiser, no body knows what Im talking about. I think I read somewhere on here that you can continue to feed them grower and give oyster shell. Ive had 2 soft eggs in the last few days and they are still on starter/grower and only one laying. Can I do that?
