if I buy chicks from a hatchery will they be show quility

Most of the time, no, and if they are, like a generic Buff Orpington, they will not be very good show birds. They are technically Hatchery Quality, for show you want Breeder/Show Quality.

However, sometimes you may get lucky and get a good one!

Chances are no..that also depends on the show.Just got back from the largest County Fair in TN and 90% were hatchery birds so if your competition is the same then you have a chance...this was an APA Show as well but at other shows with real show birds a rare hatchery bird will do well...but it can happen.
Your better off though to spend more money and buy the best you can if you really want to get into showing.
