If I dont want baby chicks, do I have to get my rooster nuetered?

Hey, I've had my herd of chickens for a couple months now and I was wondering since I don't want my hens to get pregnant would I have to get my rooster neutered? I would prefer that I didn't have to separate him.

Separate into quarters - easier to barbecue that way.

You could get rid of your rooster, or just keep collecting the eggs pretty regularly.

Unless you leave a hen on eggs for 21 days you won't have chicks.
They need to be incubated by a hen or in an incubator. If those conditions are not met...no chicks.

Hens dont get "pregnant" having a rooster in the flock. They will probably lay fertilized eggs but unless you decide to incubate or allow a hen who has gone broody to hatch them, you wont get any chicks. As others have stated, if you collect the eggs every day, you wont have to worry about a population explosion.
