How many hens per rooster to get a good percentage of fertile eggs? I'd like to be sure to have the right ratio, but since these will be kept seperate, don't want TOO many! I was thinking maybe 5 hens and a roo?But I don't want the girls getting worn out from too much action!

I think its generaly 1 rooster to 10 hens . The less hens you have the more each one will get serviced , unless the rooster picks favorites then its hard to tell, but 1 to 5 ratio is pretty good.

I had 1 rooster to 13 hens. Every single one were fertile and the hens backs were very healthy. This was when I only had 14 chickens though.
