I recently responded to a job ad on craigslist for an entry level management position. No experience necessary, please send resume. So I did, and about an hour later I received a phone call. They are impressed with my resume and would like to schedule an interview for the next day.
I get to the interview and there is someone else in the waiting room. No biggie, I have done group interviews before. The interview was very short. Only about five questions long. We were told we would be receiving a call to let us know if we were going to be eligable for a second interview.
About 30 minutes later I got a call from the guys assistant. He was really impressed with me! My 2nd interview was going to be tomorrow from 12:00 to 3:00, so make sure I had that block of time open. I managed to get the time covered at work, and showed up only to find that there were 20 other people there. Red flag, but whatever. Just a little more competition I guess.
The office looked pretty shady. Like it had just been set up. Not even a sign on the door. I sat there for 3 hours and took notes as he described what the training process would look like. 60-90 days of "almost" no pay, but at the end, 30k per year and my own office! As well as 2 paid for vacations every year! Isn't that great!?
At the end of the interview, you'll never believe it. We ALL got hired! Miraculous. We were ALL going to be branch mangers of 25 new office locations that would be opening up AFTER our training process. Hmm. One guy said he couldn't do it because he has a class that would conflict with training hours. Oh but we'll work with you! Don't worry, we will make it work. Criminal record? I am VERY understanding. Don't worry, you still have the job. Hmmm....
Went home and did some research on this so called company. He said it was called Triple Diamond Management.
No such company ANYWHERE.
Said it was founded by a man named Larry Hahn.
Oh! Yes, there is a Larry Hahn. And he is tied to every major fragrance distribution scam out there. They change the name of the company with each new scam so they can continue netting people. The mother company is scentura. They lure people in with the promise of offices and salaries, put them through a 3 month "training" process where they are sent to parking lots and street corners to hawk cheap chemicals illegally with no permits. They are trained to lie and say that they just left a perfume show and need to sell this really nice expensive perfume at cost. They are paid 2$ commission per bottle. But not to worry! In just a couple months you will be making 30k a year! Except that at the end of the "training", every single person is told that they "just didn't make it" and are let go. The scammers then start over with a whole new group of suckers.
Guys, be very very careful when looking for employment. These snakes are under dozens of aliases including Scentura, Global Creations, Synergy, WMI, Coastal Promotions, S&G Enterprise, Infinity, New Brighton, Bos Management, Millenium, Rhino Mangement and others.
If you are EVER offered a position by a company claiming to be the "top wholesale fragrance distributor" with promises of salary and founded by Larry Hahn, RUN. And call the local police department. I just did and they are looking into it. I will be going back to the "training" on Monday to try to warn the other people who are about to be victimized. Hopefully if enough people are aware of this scam, it can be stopped. I very nearly quit my full-time position for this. And it makes me sick when I think of the countless others who actually DID.
