If roost bar is 2x2 can I just add another 2x2 to it?

We have some 2x2 roost bars and I am thinking of adding another 2x2 to some of them to watch if the chickens like it better. Is this a problem? Do I need to seal where they meet or just make sure they are flush & tight?

Just make sure they are flush. I'd honestly just keep it as a 2x2 as they can grip it better.

Thanks. I think I will make one a 2x3 and leave the other as a 2x2. They can choose.

That's a good idea, I wouldn't go bigger than that.

I've used 2x4 set wide side up and the chickens seemed to like them fine. Of course a 2x4 is not actually 4" wide ...
