...and the eggs would have to come from a farm (so express mailed to us) what is the Minimum amount of equipment we would have to have?

You would need either a broody hen or an incubator. Then after the chicks are hatched you need a brooder and feed. Then either a home for them with someone else or a coop in your yard. Check out the search engine on this site it will help you find answers to all your questions.
