if we let our 3-week ducklings out to play, how to corral them again?

we got ducklings that were 3 weeks old..they never were happy to be held or caught. I think they need to be held and cuddled asap, just like Amosunknown said. they are different than chickens in that aspect.

We built a little play pen. At first they didn't know what to do, then they just started eating on the grass and enjoying the sun. It was really funny how they acted when some swallows flew over, they moved to the far side and the geese kinda went crazy honking!! Make sure to give them some grit or something. They will eat grass, and chase bugs!!

Here's pics of mine!!

At first they just huddled together and looked at me like, "What am I supposed to do now?"

We made a little play pen with whatever we could find. Chicken wire, welded wire, even fishing nets over the top!! My goslings baby my ducklings even if they are younger than them, they also would go around the pen following me. I wouldn't give them anything to swim in yet, just somewhere to run!!

That clay plant base I can see in the picture would make a lovely wading pool for your flock they would splash it empty in about 20 minutes tops. Make sure you will be around to warm them up if they get chilled.

I am wanting to let mine out of their home also and I'm also worried how to catch them again. I know that when I pick one up the others follow so I think thats a good tip. Also the trail of food, lettuce or worms is a good one! My dad says I need a duck net. Hopefully it won't come to that!

I would buy(or make) the net you are sure to need it sooner or later. I used the catch one and the rest will follow method until one gave a alarm call and they scattered all over the place to hide! Fun?
