I got up and gave the chickens their Thanksgiving Feast (chopped turkey neck meat and simmered veggies from making the broth yeasterday; and brown rice and a whole wheat dinner roll.) Let them out in the run and lo and behold, found a SHELLESS EGG with an umbilical cord-like attachment. Felt like a rubbery water ballon. Not quite sure who laid it, but it must not have felt like an egg because it wasn't in a nest box and all of our girls lay in there. WEIRD!
Now Mom & I are about to start making pies... MMMMM.
I am still in my PJs as I see no point in getting fully dressed to cook!!!
Oh and we got an egg from Rita and I just watched Olympia lay 1 too! Good girls

Morning all and Happy Thanksgiving, I have been up since about 7am , neighbor called to ask if we always let our horse have Thanksgiving "out" of the fence.........HA< GEESH , its so cold.............we just got in from chasing the horse around and around the neighborhood........... finally got him back home.... and happy to find he didnt ruin any of our neighbors bins of grain or haystacks.
I usually cook dinner, but not this year,we are off to my sisters house only 30 minutes away , family in from Prescott Az, we haven't seen since dad passed in '02, so off we go. YEAH NO BAKING ! hope this day is blessed for all of you !
I got up threw on my robe and snow boots (that was a sight for the neighbors, I'm sure
) Went out to the chicken coop and collected my 2 eggs
. I'm glad to say that the new layer who laid on the floor yesterday figured out the nest boxes.
Let the girls out, and mixed them up a batch of hot pellet mash. (pellets soaked in hot water) They hate the pellets so I'm finding fun ways to get them to eat them.
And now, I'm getting ready to fix DH a breakfast of pullet eggs and bacon. (we'll be eatting our first eggs I was saving them until I had a full doz)
Then I get to start cooking. It's just DH and myself, but it'll be a fun T-day anyway. Hope you all have a great one!!
I got up at 8 and working on my 2nd cup of coffee. I have to make the green been thing and deviled eggs to take to my sisters house for lunch with a bunch of her in-laws. It's finally turned cold - or cool to you northern folks! Now it feels like Thanksgiving. Have a great day everyone!!!
"Happy Thanksgiving" to you all. We are off to my mom's today, she will be starting Chemo on Tuesday as her cancer has returned, My boyfriend's mother committed suicide on Oct 6 of this year, so we were quite undecided on what to even do for the holidays this year, but, my mom called David at 6:30 yesterday morning and invited him to her house, and he excepted, as far as I know he and I are the only people she invited and I have four brothers and sisters, hmmm. I have no idea what the future holds for my mom but she took the news very well and has a bright outlook, so we will make the best of our time together and thank the good lord for family. I would tell you all to have a great day, but, I told a man that once and he responded by saying, "You don't have great days, You make them". So I will say to you all to, "MAKE A GREAT DAY"
Came home from work last night, made 2 coconut pies, made a red velvet cake yesterday, DH has a 9 lb. pork shoulder on the grill to pull into BBQ, turkeys in the oven and I have lots more to do before I go to work at 3:00 today. HAPPY THANKSGIVING every one.
