Not really...some of us (ancestors) were doing great until Spain, France and England showed up... plenty of buffalo, women did the work, men hunted and fished....the old ones should have left them on their ships and this world we be a much better place.
Yeah me too or more like part of me now. Unfortunately it was inevitable that it would change.
I try to embrace all the cultures that I am made up of. We were taught not to use our native roots as privilege as some others in my area do. No status card, no free tax or grants etc..
Stand on your own two feet. Earn what you have.
X3 Yes, there are many more Native American Indians than anyone thinks. I grew up learning Chippewa, French and English. I speak English and live American. I leave the Spanish to my Children and Grandchildren. I suppose the Grandchildren should learn Chinese, too. Now wars are waged differently.
There are many soldiers in our 2 very different families going back hundreds of years. They fought for this land and for the rights of the people, all the people. They fought here and abroad. They died or came home with physical and emotional disabilities. So we could live on our land with our rights, our rules and our freedoms. They fought abroad to help others keep theirs and to warn others off. We are like no other country in this world. So if you don't like it, you can leave. They fought for that right too, and it is a right and we had better not forget it.
