I nowhere stated that I believed that Hitler wanted world domination. I meant that if we didn't have a military to KEEP our freedom, we would be like any country that is run by a greedy dictator.

Again, I mean no disrespect to the veterans - I have the utmost respect for people who willingly put themselves in the line of fire and constantly stare death in the face. I've got a friend who recently joined the National Guard; there is a strong probability that he'll get sent to Afghanistan.

LOL! Actually, there is quite a bit about the Japanese invasion here in Alaska (or what would become part of the US later) during WWII... I had to do a lot of research on it before cleaning up some of the abandoned WWII military sites in the Aleutian Islands a few years back. It's actually quite fascinating reading. Do a google search "Aleutian Islands WWII"...

But that's another story.

But, we still thank the veterans. And perhaps the reason the US has NOT been overtaken by another country is because everyone is afraid of our armed forces and just hasn't tried anything.

At least that's what my husband claims. We were not at war with anyone while he was in the Marines, so naturally he says it's because no one dared mess with us while he was on duty.
