If you could only keep 3-5 chickens

I think I’m going to have a similar experience, when I got my first group of chickens, after they left the cute chick and pulled stage it was pretty easy to choose which ones I wasn’t going to keep. Then I had barred rocks, cream legbar, EE, RR, Wyandotte’s, and some others that’s not memorable lol. For some reason I really liked the Muscovy ducks I had really cool little guys..
and I guess ima have to get creative with adding wheels to the pen this is going to be interesting

If you didn't like the personality of the RR, you might want to try New Hampshire Reds. I got my Sunshine as a freebie and I really didn't think I would like/love her. She is now the silliest little troublemaker in the group and I love her.

My BO was nervous and standoffish in the beginning. Once she started laying she turned in to such a sweetheart. She falls asleep in my arms now instead of screaming for me to put her down.

I am so excited to read this. My little darling BO, Darla, definitely seems to be moving towards this! I didn't really know about the juvenile molt and couldn't figure out why she hated to be petted or held. She just started laying very recently too, so that is a lot of change to go through in a short amount of time. I am hopeful that she's going to be all we hoped for plus more. She's certainly proving to be an excellent layer, but in all honesty, I want her fluffy love!

BO's are definitely my favorite for cuddles, they're just so FLUFFY! I was very disappointed in the beginning when she wanted nothing to do with me. The BO we used to have would fall right asleep when we picked her up. I'm very happy that Buttercup (or Butters) has turned in to our little teddy bear chicken! I hope your follows right along this path!

By the way, I was just looking at a website that I will not name that states, Barred Plymouth Rocks are not strong layers because they only lay an average of 280 eggs a year. :)
:ththat's the thing with getting all of your information on the internet....sometimes it's just not reliable! :barnie I always talk to the old timers to learn practical advice :old
