If you have a dog, what kind is it and is it good around your chickens?
Two Boston Terriers and a Goldendoodle. All great around the birds.
Ive got a border collie so far hes fine with the chickens but he doesn't go in the run but other than curiosity if they making a noise he dont take any notice of them.
Golden retriever and great dane, both trusted around my chickens unsupervised. (although the dane's wagging tail has certainly sent a few girls screaming a time or two...lol)
Here are some of mine missing in photo is a my old choclate lab, she is kinda blind but is still a varmit killing girl and great with all the animals that belong here.
Rottie, pitty ,aussie , GP, GP & AS cross
And this is the baby sitter
We have five mini dachshunds. They are all great around the girls. However one of our dachshunds is a rebel and I'm always watching to make sure she doesn't do anything wrong. One of the hens we received was attacked by a dog so she now attacks back. It was so funny to see Piper (our rebel dog) chased by Dixie our chicken. Never saw her run so fast before. But Piper still likes to follow them around the yard. I tend to keep my eye on her because of that.
I have a female mutt under a year old, and she is great with my chickens, and my kids.
here she is with her friends. She even eats cracked corn with them lol.
German Shepherds... raised from pups around chickens... never a problem.
Pit Bull Boxer mix, just a doll- the chickens scare him!
Golden retreiver. He's great at keeping other animals out of the yard, and only occasionally runs through a group of chickens to watch them scatter. He never hurts them though.
