If you have a dog.....

Our Moxie is a Miniature Pinscher/Pomeranian mix, and we are currently working with her in regards to the chickens. She has a high prey drive (she has killed a couple of voles) and is very interested in the chickens. We've only had her around them on leash. She will sit and knows the "leave it" command. Sometimes she seems more interested in the chicken poop than the chickens, sometimes she also stares at them intently, while licking her lips. It's a work in progress!

Ehh, Jasmine, my oldest shih tzu is untrustworthy... she becomes obsessive over small animals and chickens.

Thyme, one of Jasmine's daughters used to be allowed to help herd them... but... she started nipping and that ended it.

Our yard is unfenced, so the dogs don't get to run free anyway, and def. not with the chickens. I definately would not trust them unsupervised.

we had all sorts of dogs... from daschunds to rotties... they all have a job here, to look after the property and whatever live in it....

At the moment there are 3 of them, bull terrier and bull x pit..

We have 2 Corgis. They LOVE the chickens and ducks. Our male really likes to herd the ducks around the yard. But he never touches them. He just plays. The ducks actually seem to enjoy it. He always runs really slow behind them and if he ever catches up he just sniffs them. Our female is very motherly to the birds. Every new peep we hatch out muct be sniffed from head to toe before being put in the brooder. She is incredibly protective of them. We have a really old goldern retriever and pomeranian they are really good with the flock too. They all LOVE treat time together.

I have a mini dachshund and a vizsla/lab mix. Both are bad but we are working on it. Vizsla is much better than the doxie because he at least listens to commands. The doxie is still a pup and she gets her prey drive in gear and is blinded to everything around her.

14yr old Jack Russell. He generally ignores them unless there is food around and then its a different story.
I never leave them together unsupervised tho, never.

I have 5 American Pit Bull Terriers and they do not bother with the chickens, and the chickens are not afraid of the dogs as well. When I throw out scraps from the kitchen, the dogs usually join the chickens in picking through the goods.

I have a Chihuahua. She's 4 years old and only 3 pounds. She thinks she can eat all 14 of my chickens and really wants to sooo bad. The chickens would probably eat her, but I don't wanna find out. So they are excluded from each other at all times.
When I open any door of my house, it goes into a small wooden fenced yard, so every exit gets her to the same place. Outside of the wooden fence I have chain link fenced chicken yards. So they all have two fences between them.
I have had other dogs in the past, some were good with the chickens, some not so much. Like the Pit Bull that ate 1/2 my flock of 40 in one evening.

I had a small TerriPoo that LOVED every living thing on earth and especially a baby anything. She would have figured out a way to sleep on the roosts with the chickens had I let her try!

I had a Samoyed that was way above acknowledging the existence of chickens.
They've all been different in their ways.

older sheltie... hes 13 years old.. and puppy sheltie about 8 months old.
the older sheltie tolerates running chickens and shares their scraps of food. its kinda funny.. sometimes you can find sam the dog in the coop..looking for food.

but the puppy is nutty!!! she chases the chickens, so she cant be left unattended.
