What a wealth of info, thanks! The heat and humidity is like that in the midwest too...shoot you sweat drying off after a shower and it's so humid, it doesn't evaporate...you end up being soggy all day...ugh!
I spent a few years in CA and can honestly say I'm not a beach person...oh it's fine to visit once in a while, but... I grew up swimming in freshwater lakes off a dock so I'm not really into the sand. Would be nice to be able to beach comb for kelp for the girls, though, LOL.
Photos I've seen of the older mountains are SO pretty! I love all the fall color. Here in the higher altitude we mostly just have aspen. It's gorgeous, but there isn't much of a palatte...just gold and the dark green of the conifers. I'd love to be some place where you get the reds and oranges along with the yellow and green. Heck if I could find a place where it's fall all year long...woohoo! LOL
