If you pen your Muscovy can i see what it looks like?

Thanks, i'm In On. Did you find the PVC pipes to get through the winter? that is my only concern and as we know when the ground is frozen there won't be any fixing it. I am checking kijiji daily, sadly there was a place in barrie that had some standard page fence but they sold it.

I agree with you on home hardware that is actually where we got our horse fence(a graduated page) That is where i can get the 5ft chicken wire. I tried my one farm supply( i use two) but they had nothing that tall, unfortunately. I will probably hit the phones again, my husband surprised me by saying he isn't working the weekend so we can do the fence(he usually works 6days a week) so i need to get on this like now lol

Thanks for the suggestions!

GQ, freezing weather shouldn't affect the PVC pipe. If you use them, I would maybe put caps on them to prevent snow or rain etc from getting in the pipes. Water pipes burst because the water inside of them expands when it freezes but as long as they are not filled with water they should be fine. I would double check with someone at the hardware store there though and explain what you are doing with them I don't have experience with hard freezes.

Good idea i forgot all of ours we use for blue bird house have the caps just for that reason, rain, snow getting inside and causing them to split.

I found the black PVC did fine. We put in 12"ish deep and dont really worry about it. There hasnt been any trouble yet. My kids have bumped into it a few times in the real cold and it held up better then the steel!! We found the steel at times would jump in the frost and then fall over if something bumped it.

We havent had our local bear population come calling to test it yet.....but if it can stand up to my kids dont think the bear would have a hope!! LOL!!

Home Hardware usually is the best price wise on that but try Timber Mart (if you have one local to you). Some times they can surprise you!!
Thanks for the feedback, my husband seemed to feel it would be a reasonable idea to use them. Timbermart changed to a home building centre here lol
