If you separate your rooster, give me some advise!

My boy has been separated for almost a week , he’s loosing feathers even his beautiful tail feathers . We are getting our vet to fix him , remove his testacles. I know it’s risky but under sedation at the clinic he has the best chance , otherwise we were going to cull him. Maybe if there were 2 or 3 roosters it works , but it’s obvious to me on alone is not a good life for mine.
How old is he? I looked into castration, but my roo is over a year, so I was told it’s a difficult and high risk procedure- I guess the testicles are near the aorta. It’s much better to do when they are very young, so I wish I did it back then- but I didn’t know he would be so “amourous”!

I know the risks , he is one . The vet is doing it in the office under sedation , she’s done far harder surgeries, I’d bet the risks are lower under those controlled conditions .

We aren’t paying for it, she wants to have it on her resume so to speak , that’s she’s done it.

We were going to cull him anyways so it’s worth the risk , donating him to science

Wow, I hope it all goes well! Let me know how he does with the surgery, best of luck!
