If you tag someone in an article, are they notified?

The context would be something like referencing their article or thread. It doesn't matter to me either way, but I am curious and wasn't able to find an answer through search.

For me, quoting the post alerts me someone responded to that post specifically. I have been tagged in a couple, but when I clicked on the link, it didn't necessarily take me to the post I had been tagged in. It's always possible it was user error and I was just clicking the wrong link though.

Something to check....

There is a whole section on when to get alerts. Make sure what you want to be notified of is checked. The section on article notifications is about half way down. It's a long list.

I found what you mentioned. My things were all checked by default, so it sounds like I should have gotten a notification with Debbie's test, but didn't. Unless that's because I was "mentioned" in an edit and not the original posting?

That could be. You could try unchecking, then rechecking boxes and see if that triggers anything.
