If you thought about getting a pet, adopt from a local shelter! Shelter Pets need you!!!!!! Please Help!!!!!

Just because people would rather get a purebred than a shelter dog doesn't make them bad people. Not everyone wants a mix that they don't know the history of

I will not leave myself heartbroken over a dead dog, again?

I choose to buy a healthy dog. I am also interested in dog shows, and preserving rare breeds

cannot do that with a shelter dog

Shelters everywhere are full! They cannot take any more animals without others having their lives taken! If you wanted to get a pet, PLEASE ADOPT FROM A SHELTER!!!!!!! SAVE A LIFE!!!!! IF WE ALL WORK TOGETHER WE CAN SAVE THEM!!!!!! PLEASE CONSIDER ADOPTING FROM YOUR LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTER!!!!

Yes! I think people should at least visit one when they are considering getting a dog

I agree-most of the time. Sometimes you'll fall totally in love with one breed, and I think that's okay. And sometimes you need a dog bred for a job-I think that's okay too. But for all those people who get doodles because they're 'trending', or because they think mutts are ugly, just wow. Most of the time, I say get a shelter dog. Often they are sweet, and friendly, and the perfect mix for you. Sometimes you won't, and I don't have a problem with that as long as you consider and look into shelter dogs!

We get puppies from shelters, honestly, mixed breeds in general are more heathy than our breeds. I love all dogs. I don't think buying from a breeder is bad in the least! But please doNt assume all "shelter dogs" have health problems, are aggressive, etc.

I would love to adopt a shelter dog, but at the moment, there are just too many what ifs- what if the dog has separation anxiety? What if they start humping the couch? What if they have poor reactions to cats? Aggression towards other dogs? Dislike men or women or people that wear boots? Have past training that wasn't done properly (example: bite work) that will cause problems? We just aren't in a position to deal with these what ifs right now.

I'm getting a poodle because

#1 I am allergic to dogs
#2 I am interested in dog shows
#3 Poodles fit perfectly into my life, they are smart, high energy, and willing to please
and #4 after going through so many health issues, agression issues, and etc with rescue dogs, I no longer wish to own rescues. Not my thing.

I would almost never buy a pure bred cat. Any cats or rabbits that I ever get will be adopted. But dogs have the potential to do so much damage if there are issues that you can't handle....

That's ok! Just remember shelters have puppy litters that need to be adopted as well. After taken home, they won't remember. None of mine have. I respect your decision and am fine with it. I am talking to pple in general
