Bantam chooks
In the Brooder
Hi, we have a 7 year old pekin bantam called Nugget, we have owned her, her whole life and is very loved. She lives with 3 other pekin bantams and their behaviour is all fine.
Today I went out to see Nugget still on the perch, so I left her thinking she's just having a lie in. I went back 20 minutes later and she's still sat there. So I picked her up and she's very lathargic. She's not making a peep or any noise and she's all fluffed up and head tucked in. Her crop is full and she's beathing with her mouth open.
I offered her some mealworms, that she loves, and didn't take any
she just looked at them, tried to peck at one but is too weak.
She's now sat next to me, fluffed up and eyes closed.
Bare in mind she is 7 years old so is this the end? or is there something else going on?
P.s she doesn't lay anymore and hasn't done for a couple years.
Any help is greatly appricated, Nugget is a gem.
