I mean, it's not your fault, you know, if the hen kills a chick, or if it gets trampled or is just too weak or whatever, you still feel bad, but you know that there probably wasn't anything that you could've done, and that there was probably some reason for it. With this, I know the reason, I know I could've prevented it, and I'm just having a problem getting over it. Baby's mom was a pet, I only found her eggs at all under a weird set of circumstances, we put them in the incubator and played mother hen all that time, and then she dies b/c of a stupid mistake. And she was the only one that hatched. And we went to such huge lengths to take care of her after she was hatched...it was just overkill, that's all.
Thanks everyone for letting me lean on all of you...I know everyone has their own stories to tell. I'm sure we will have more stories too...
