We've gotten 0.09 " of rain so far this month, and 3" since the beginning of may. And thats a lot better then last year.

I keep telling the New Englanders to turn their fans on and point them South!

It's not working I guess.

It's only expected to get to 99 here on Tuesday! At least that will be cooler.

We should start a "crunchy grass photo contest".

My biggest fear, aside from losing chickens to heat stroke, is a grass fire. One broke out last week in a neighboring county and burned 1700 acres before they got it contained. All it'll take is one cigarette flipped out a car window...

We haven't had any measureable rain in over 3 weeks. My grass is brown. My flowers look sick. I keep watering my veggies but can't keep that up. Rain barrels have dust in them.

Rain dance didn't work

Carolina's are still recovering from the drought a few years back. Parts of S Carolina still haven't caught up yet. We went kayaking up on Mt. Island Lake yesterday and you could see the lake levels were already starting to lower. The year of the drought peoples boats had grass growing up around them while setting at their docks because the was no longer any water in the different channels.

Well, I should be happy. At least there's a breeze blowing today. Of course the breeze feels similiar to the woosh of hot air you get when you open the oven door that's been baking at 400 degrees for a few hours.

It's ridiculous. Are we headed for another Great Dust Bowl???
The farmers around here were able to get two good cuttings of hay before everything dried up. They best be thankful. I have a feeling they won't be cutting much more hay before fall.
