Illia, don't look!!! You will tell me they're EEs and all Roos ;)

They are very pretty.
I thought Araucanas were rumpless - your little cuties have little itty bitty tails growing in. So, my vote is Ameraucanas or EE's.

(not so helpful, am I? lol)

They are here in the US. However, England/Australia have different standards that call for tails, muffs, beards, and crests I do believe. I don't think they have Ameraucanans over there, but not sure on that one.

There are no Ameraucanas in Australia, and i mentioned in my post, that they are the tailed variety.

The breeder said they were blue, but I am beginning to doubt that

Lavender is what someone suggested, so I believe that

Actually, they can be... an EE is a bird that has a blue egglaying ancestor, doesn't conform to the standard, or is clearly mixed. So it's possible.

But we don't have stupid hatcheries so we call them by their proper name, Mutts

Well lavender is also called self blue...

Hard to tell if they are pure or not. I know you said they are dark skinned but did you mean that their shanks are dark? As for sex, if you look at their combs, the boys have three rows in their combs (if they have pea combs, not sure what your SOP is for Araucanas). At 1 1/2 weeks it it pretty early to tell. I know that Ameraucana's and EE's can be tricky even at older ages. The first one does look like it is lavender but again, I don't know if anyone is breeding lavender (or self blue) in Austrailia. They are very cute chicks. If you could post clear, close up pictures of their combs it might be possible to sex them.

The International standard for Araucana's does include different varieities with tufts, muffs, rumpless, tailed and even crest. Also almost all of the different color variations of chickens apply . The fact that one chick appears to be rumpless does indicate that Araucana breeding is in there somewhere. As posted several times previously it is a little soon to be sure of sexes, at least from the photos. Beautiful colors tho, will be interesting to see what they look like in a couple of months. Congrats and enjoy them!
