I picked up some Gluten free cookies for you to have for nibbles with your coffe on Sunday morning as I'm sure my cake would not pass the muster in a gluten frre diet. Can't wait to see you comming down the drive!

Every One:
You should have directions and my contact phone number by now. It can be easy to get lost even though the directions seem simple because we are so hidden. If you do not have directions or my phone numbers please contact me via BYC ASAP and I wil get them to you....remember I am off the net by 4PM and all weekends.

I forgot to mention that if any of you have horses and would like to trailer them out for a ride down the trail, well it's a very pretty ride.

Denise, Our count, as far as I know right now, is 2 adult chicken people, husband, adult son and two adult daughters, one 11+ month old granddaughter! Can't wait to see you on Saturday!!! Mary

Well the best I can muster is a day trip on Saturday, we can start early and have a good day. If I am very lucky, I'll be able to pack the tent as a Just In Case. I am so very happy to be able to meet all you brilliant chicken luuurvers! Thank you for offering your space and time!

I just met a lovely lady in town here with Icelandic chickens, too beautiful!

My count,,, not including children, is 36 if all who come are at least couples. Chicldren are extras to that count. I am still praying that Robin The Flock Mistress (Ewe Sheep) reconsiders. We will be expecting most people getting here between Noon and 4. A couple have said they will be here "early" and a few can't join us until almost dark and 4 can't join unitl after dark due to company picnik, family kid birthday party, work, and hay collection.
I can't wait to meet all these new people and see some old aquaitances again!
I baked "mom' cake last night and watched it fall in the last 20 minutes.
I baked another this morning and it felll almost as hard. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Tastes good though!

OK Every One.
I'm leaving my desk to go prepare and hopefully bake a cake that doesn't fall.
If you still need directions, please PM
Not A Farm
The Brunstead
Bluebird
or Zoo357

They can give you the directions and contact numbers.

To all:
Have a great and safe Weekend ! Spend it with some one you love.

mom cake?

I have had a fever all day but am making plans for tomorrow's trip to your place if I'm all better. I haven't been around anybody sick lately, all my patients are surgicals and we've had a run of kidney stones all week! But nobody with flu or anything like that. My guess is I drank some Aldi wine last night after work, and I'm "under the weather" in a baaaad way. The wine was from Aldi, and may have been cut with grain alcohol. Now I'll be fuzzy in the head for days. I hope we can make it, we really look forward to meeting you! We even have the new Rick Riordan Red Pyramid book on CD for the drive, ordered early from our library!

So, what's Mom cake?

Six, These are quotes from Paradise that are found on the "Illinois..." thread of the "Where am I? Where are you?" forum. Denise said she would give it a go!
I won't be staying overnight either but hope I can try her Mom cake before I leave today!!

Here is the link if you've never been on it:

She immediately ran to pick it up as she was raised in German occupied northern Italy and was from a family of 9 children - they starved mostly and you just didn't let food hit the ground.
As we were walking back to our home just kiddy corner across the street, she started asking me what she said wrong as I spoke etter english than her and I did not know what to tell her. She cryed a lot for a long time afterwards. She stayed our of sight of them for a long time and didn't garden in the front yard.
About 15 years later, her "accidental" children, my very much younger sisters befriended their kids of the same age. Thieeir mother, still a ___(fill in the blank)___, wouldn't let my sisters come into her home to play. Those little sisters of mine had no accents. They did not act or look ethnic in any way. My mother was gracious with their children and fed them when over and was as kind to them as all the rest of my little sisters' friends. But there was still the crying as she was made to feel unworthy by the loud mouthed inconsiderate 3 second blast by that person.
By the way, WE ate the cake. It was one of her famous poundcake-type of specialties done in a bundt pan and decorated with powdered sugar. A poor man's recipie she made up while in Italy. Very tasty with coffee or just to grab a slice and run! I'm the only one who knows her recipie to this day.

Oh, Denise!! Will you please, please, please make some for the Illinois Get-Together at your place on August 20th?!

Oh I remember that! It was a thread about dealing with bad neighbors. Seems we all have one or two. But seems even bad neighbors can't put down a good cake! I can't wait to see it!

What a great day! Thank you for your awesome hospitality! I have plans now for those chicken garden seeds, I want to make a winter hoop with that forage garden so my chickie babies aren't so bored all winter. They usually have a few weeks of utter boredom when they can't forage, and they try to get up on our porch and in the house for entertainment. I think, this year it will be much improved by your "My Pet Chicken" seed packets! Won't that be great to have a hoop garden for them?! Each seed packet wants 9ftX9ft, and it says to plant 4 weeks before the last frost.

Here's an uploaded very short vid of Zach, he got brave and went ahead after your party with his open-mike-cafe cover of Blackbird:

What a great day. Please pet Mr. Dog for me.
