I am looking to buy 5 to 10 laying hens here in the near future. Does anyone have anything for sale close to Effingham, IL. (Intersection of Interstates 70 and 57)
Thanks.

I have roughly 40 chicks @ 1-3 weeks old, more on the way. Most are crossbreds: Americauna/RIR, Bl. Austr. and Black Giant cross to ??. I'll post more details later. I am about an hour from Effingham,.

We are about an hour south of Effingham. Which direction are you??? We are also hatching some mutt chicks and they are adorable. They are all large breed and good layers. Its fun to watch them hatch because you dont know what you will get.

Do you have any pure Americauna's? If so how much are they???

Our chicks are mixed because they were the incubator test run. It worked!

All that pipped, but one, survived to the ripe old age of ~3 weeks.

I have no deifinte true Ameracauna. Some of the chicks are 1/2 RIR, 1/2 from a Ameracuana/?? roo. The other chicks are either 1/2 Amer. 1/2 Black Austr. or full Ameri. They look wonderful with full eyeliner and brown/grey feathers coming in. Sorry. I don't know which are which.

I have 11 full blooded roosters -- either Black Austr. or Barred Rock. They were free fillers and are only 6 days old. I'll have to wait a while to know for certain.

Has anyone else had dealings with Ideal Hatchery? We had the first shipment on time, but little chick Jonestown (all but one that we paid for dead) in the box. Our replacement, freely offered by the hatchery, is two days late now by scheduled delivery and no word from them. Just wondering . . .

Do you have any Polish? My son wants to show a couple for kicks.

So sorry for you loss! Poor little babies.
I ordered my chicks from Ideal, I ordered 13 and got 19 , 6 of them are light brahma boys (packing peanuts) all arrived safe and healthy there going into there 3rd wk now. the only chick that had any problem was one of my 2 Australorpe girls, she had crook neck or wrey neck but in a little while she was fine. Also the chicks arrived overnight. hatchday was the third and I recieved them on the morning of the forth of feb. I wasn't expecting them til the fifth, So I had a very good experience with Ideal, I have called them several times to ask various questions and they have taken the time to explain things to me very carefully. I hope the chicks I ordered from them that will be shipped on the 25th will go as well.
Im so sorry for your loss, but I don't believe that kind of thing is typical from them, Ive only recieved one batch of chicks but decided to order from them because of the good things I heard about them here on Byc, Good luck with your new chicks! Sandy
