Illinois...

I thought recently someone just lost a chicken and suspected turkey......? Either molpet or breeder?
I had a few chicks just 'disappear' this summer. My flock has never been aggressive toward broody hens & chicks, but the turkeys and our rooster are new. I believe the turkeys can't tell the difference between cannibalism and a tasty treat. They are bullies toward the little seramas. That's why I blame them.

Just curious, and wanted to follow up..... Your meat project was not affected by the power outs :old ... You did mention things were OK at the time,. Just wondering:idunno
Fantastic! Didn't lose any but it was close. If we didn't decide to come home early from MN would have been disastrous.
Been trying to thaw 2 a week to butcher.. just made first batch of bone broth Sunday. Made some egg drop soup with it and instantly thought *GRAVY*!. And this morning couldnt wait and made the most fantastic chicken gravy I've had.

Btw, you can touch our picture to find more info on us.

A local young man asked me today about bantams. Does anyone have any or know of some one who does?
I have seramas - smallest bantam. Not ideal for our Chicago winters since they require supplemental heat in winter. (or just keep them as house-pets for a few months a year.) If he's interested in my "useless chickens" you can pass along my info. I actually have several serama chicks at the moment.
