Illinois...

I tried to put a saddle on our Penny and she wouldn't stop flapping around until she was free of it. Rooster has pulled most of her feathers off. Her back and head are bald.
The 1st time I had tried a saddle not only did the hen flap around, but the rooster (& a couple hens) kept attacking her. They were trying to vanquish the evil thing on top. Poor, poor little hen. I took it off and tried again the next day when she was free ranging (more space to run away from flock). I also put multiple hens in saddles on so she was not the only one. Of course don't be too surprise if a hen lays down like its killing her. Mine can be such drama queens.

I took a lot of pix, but had to sort out those in focus, and correct pose, with no motion.

And it was dinner time for my other pets as well. I think I have about 20 of these cuties around. I need to go to Menards and get another 50 pound bag of BOSS.
These guys probably consume about 80% of that. Chickens and other birds account for the 20%
