those wild birds!

Never had it so I can not tell you exactly the symptoms, either can I from MS/MG because I don't have them in my flock or nor my flock ever experience it. I am certain ONE day, one wild sick bird will come in and sicken my birds and I would be royally ticked if it ever happen. Thank God, I have netting on my runs, that keeps them out but the very air they breathe in, ugh.

Could it be the recent chicks you got may have been carriers? One little thing can set the flock on fire in no time and there is nothing you could have done to stop it at that point and hope for survivors if you decide to keep them. I had a friend that lost ALL of her flock from Coryza, from one bird she brought back from a show and it was a very miserable time for her. She hadn't had any chickens since then.

Those Black Birds like to come in the coop and eat the chickens feed.

The only bird I have added to the flock was the Black Ameraucana Hen.

Those nasty starlings gave my chickens the yearly leg mites. So I have to put down Sevin Dust in the coop and brooder boxes to prevent it to happen again. Nasty little buggers!

I am ready for a LONG fall, not the one we had last year, a very short fall and then wham a long winter. I mean a LOOOOOOOOOONG fall!

I'm gonna have to be on the lookout for that!
Last winter was brutal! I swear everytime we got 5 inches of snow the ice would freeze over the snow makeing it a skateing ring!
I don't think my butt will ever be the same!

I fell I don't know how many times carrying water to the ducks in 5 gallon buckets oh what joy that was!

I remember living out on the farm, a gentle incline to the barn from house ended up an ice sledding slope right up to the barn door LOL! Oh I do remember those days of falling and getting wet from warm buckets splashing on your coat, soaking you while you make a mad haste to the house to undo the frozen coat!

The horses have the worst part of it. Not fun for them to slide around and you often wonder you would end up having a horse with a broken leg. Fortunately it didn't happen.

Oh good thing we don't have horses! Especially the horses that have shoes on!
My cousins have horses and one of them is the meanest thing ever! I think he only does that to get on everyones nerves!

I'm haveing bad feelings about this fall and winter if we received this much rain this spring...

Might as well be prepared... I see a lot of Snow and Ice coming this way during Winter.

Hopefully something would be mild. Depends on el Nina who is stalling out in the Pacific. We ARE due for a major, major snowstorm like we had back in the 70's. (I missed that one, went to Louisiana but we had alot of flooding and rain during the winter months. Ugh!)

Yes we better be prepared!
