Skip the CANCEL,,,, and just let Chicken trigonometry take effect. :old :gig
The Feed Store may have White Leghorns if they survive their 2 days of testing out. Kind of recall that was what they carried a long ago when I visited them. I rarely go there since I don't need pigeon seeds any longer. I used to unload in Bedford Park often, so was in the area to pick stuff up. (especially hay)

On a side note; If you do end up with too many chickens,, I can adopt some of the adult chickens you no longer prefer/desire to keep. I am hoping to get my larger coop built soon, like this summer sometime.
Baby chicks are not convenient for me for 2 reasons. Work and effort involved,, and chicks are seen as chicken nuggets by my cats. Once grown, cats are fine with them.

The Feed Store had RIRs and one other breed that sounded like maybe golden comets but he was breaking up a little on the phone. But he said they will get more every few days. I just thought it was funny that he warned me they might die. He did say they had some that were a couple of weeks old he'd recommend but when I explained I needed 3 pullets to stash under a broody, I think he figured out that I wasn't looking for Easter chicks and would come in screaming with heartbroken kids if they happened to die.

Chicks are a bit of a handful for sure and freeloaders to boot! Why are they so stinking cute!?! It's like puppies. They always seem like a good idea until you have to potty train them, teach them not to chew stuff and all the rest. I will definitely keep you in mind if any of my girls need new homes (especially if my new neighbors turn bad). It would be a hard decision to make because they are all delightful in their own way but we probably have more than we bit off. Some are such great layers and good flock mates while others may not be great at that but have hilarious personalities like my Wanda Beth who didn't start laying until she was 13 months old!! If she weren't so pretty, she'd have been soup because she had an awful lot of attitude for a chicken that doesn't lay eggs. 🤣

Just called Romeoville F&F and they will get their chicks in around 12:30 but he said it takes him about an hour and a half to unpack, sort and set up so call back around 2pm and he can tell me exactly what they got. But he read the order list of what they typically get and it's a lot -- but no white leghorns. Of course my child wants one of the most common chickens and of course no one has them now. LOL!! He did say they might get leghorns in with the "assorted pullets because they always get some random stuff.

Of course this is the year I passed on hatching Leghorn eggs. LOL Last year I was practically giving a free Leghorn away with every orp. In fact I'm still selling last year's Leghorns. Tomorrow a Leghorn and an Easter Egger from last summer's chicks are getting a new home. (I'll miss the extra eggs, but DS is falling in love with some Spitz chicks and the Broody bunch are more determined than ever. I know what's coming, so I better make some room in the coop.)

.... BUT if you're interested in turkey poults, I can hook you up!

All of my neighbors enjoy the turkeys. The lady next door even bring them daily fruits. Consequently, as soon as a turkey spots the neighbor, the turkeys fly across the yard. The neighbors are entertained by turkey antics, and all the kids like collecting fancy feathers from my yard.

By October, I'll be counting the days until I'm rid of turkeys. But for now, I'm looking forward to the upcoming hatch and having new "dumb turkey" stories to share.

Did you get your leghorn? I saw some chicks advertised on Craigslist (I'm sure not sexed)

No but I ordered 3 chicks from Meyer that are hatching tomorrow so they'll get swapped in on Tuesday night. I have a lavender Ameraucana (who he has agreed is white enough to be called Eowyn )a Green Queen who will be called Maggie and a Blue Splash Marans who will be called Lizzy. I wanted a Black Copper Marans but they don't have any females for a few weeks. I almost ordered them 2 weeks ago and they had one but of course I decided to wait and lost out.

Wait!! I just looked and they have a bunch now for tomorrow!! I wonder if I can quick request a swap. I bet they'd let me.

Chicks are arriving this morning and I plan to swap them in tonight so of COURSE there's a freeze warning. I have to just hope Millie's little hot body is enough because I can't wait the extra day since I am out of town Thursday morning through Saturday and I want to be here to make sure she accepts them before leaving my kids to handle the rest.
