Wow thats a nice coop being built. I really like the dark blue in your cockerel. How are his legs and feet? Are they completely blue and what shade? Is the Silver Laced a boy as well? Usually, the lacing is not as defined at this age anyways, it should get better as he/she molts.
His legs are a dark blue as well, and has a good stance, toes are good and straight. The lighter blue cockerel I liked earlier, is turning out not as large as this guy, so he is going to go unfortunately, cause he is a sweetheart.

Silver laced is a cockerel, thanks for the info, now I don't feel as bad. I figure crossing him with a gold lace (hopefully her lacing comes in nice) will sharpen the lacing on the chicks.

Plus when your breed him with the gold, it will be a sex-linked cross. All the girls will be silver laced and the boys yellow/gold but diluted or with leakage. You can then breed the silver girls back to this roo.

I've been enjoying reading posts for a couple months. I'm in the Springfield area. My husband and I went to the poultry show today at the fair. I was hoping to talk to some owners but I really didn't see any people? Just walk thru traffic like me. Saw some pretty birds. Not as many due to the flu though.

WOW! I too was at the state fair today..... but we could not even find the poultry & / or rabbits. I saw goats, sheep, cows, & horses. Then they told me it was on the other side of the grounds behind the dairy building with the butter cow. Ate a cream puff, heard some music at "the shack," & saw some visual art projects - but never found the poultry. For us, we were coming back home from vacation & stopped in Springfield. DH was having some issues with the heat, so we gave up on seeing poultry.

Had a fun vacation with 6 states in 6 days, but I am glad to be home. Our pet sitters (our neighbors) did very well. We even found a surprise breakfast in the refrigerator. Did I ever mention that we have terrific neighbors!?! After a nice shower & change of clothes, I went to the coop to hug my chickens. I really did miss them.

I, too, was out-of-town for a week and when I got home Thursday evening, I had to go out, with a flashlight, to the coop and count heads and say hi. Yesterday, I cleaned waterers, filled feeders, swept the mats by the coop door, cleaned coops, candled eggs....it is good to be home!! Today I'll be mowing and getting the meat birds set-up outside....and watching some "chicken TV".
