Illinois...

A big thanks to @chickendreams24 for a great day!

Our family went up to visit her in WI & picked apples. Besides a trunk filled with apples, we came home with many memories. I think one of the highlights was riding in a combine. So exciting!

Here's where we had a picnic on the side of the road while taking turns going for combine rides!

Apple picking, of course. The 1st place had delicious cider donuts & some very friendly chickens. They would come running up when called, but didn't want to snack on apples. They were holding out for the donuts.

The 2nd orchard gave us a little tour & many, many samples of apples. I never knew there were so many varieties! We left very full.

The giant fridge had the most amazing smell of sweet apples.

After we got home, showered & ready for bed, DD experienced some "chicken withdrawal" so she had to bring in a silkie to cuddle before going to bed. (Yes, those are her PJs.)

With winter on its way some silly thoughts just keep crossing my mind.

BTW. @NotAFarm I still do want a pair next year, so if you get a few extra hens, put their birth certificates in my name.

The picture below speaks for itself. WINTER SLEDDING ACTIVITIES.
