Illinois...

[I'M On Island Time]

Hello! I live in the Chain O'Lakes area. Very N. IL, 5 miles south of WI in Lake Co.

I have 6 hens and 1 roo (a rescue from Save a Pet!). We all survived the cold weather. Had 3 heat lamps going non-stop for a few days in the -31F weather, but everyone seems OK right now. Hope others fared well.

I am in central illinois, about 60 miles east of St. Louis, 80 miles South of Springfield, and about 50 miles West of Effingham. Where are you located?

Wait? You mean there is a central IL? I thought there was only Chicagoland and So. IL began anywhere south of I-80.

There are three states. Chicago, Springfield, and Illinois. Illinois is divided geographically with descriptors such as southern, southeast, cenrtal, west, etc.

Southern Illinois is the area of Illinois lying south of line generally defined by Highway 13. Part of Southern Illinois is also known as Little Egypt.
