I sold both of the 1/2 spitz chicks on Monday. They each had a tiny, tiny start of feather growth. I asked the new owner to send some pics so I could see how they grow out. I hope he does.
I had 4 chicks left. (Poor Trouble had 1 chick & Cookie had 3.) The two hens stayed together yesterday - even when I opened the door to allow them time to free range. Then I found them last night = all 6 crammed into one nest box. LOL
The happy family was running around the yard when I left this morning, but I only saw 3 chicks when I got back this afternoon. None will leave the safety of the coop/run. I'm pretty sure a hawk must have scooped it up. No evidence. Sadly it was a lav orp. Of course it was also the one I thought was a female!

3wks, 1 day old. Gender guesses for pics below welcomed.
I think @ChicagoClucker was right. The pretty black orp with the brown highlights looks male-ish.

our two hens that are almost certainly the foundation of our project breed. I hope they turn up but I'm getting less and less hopeful. No signs of them anywhere. Hopefully their daughters can carry on the beautiful legacy and maybe we can rework the breeding program.
