Illinois...

I promise to keep it to a minimum about the students.

And well, I would name her Maybelline except for when my husband named our Chihuahua Cookie (she was our first pet together) he decided all future pets have to be food names haha. WE are having to get creative as the chickens and ducks have grown to so many...
My grandson suggested "drumstick" for a future roo.

Here's our roo, 'Drumsticks'
He has some very long legs & a drummer's hairdo.
He'll probably be for sale with 1-2 female Spitzhaubens, but I'm really enjoying him so he's still here.

We also had Cream Crested Legbars named Smartie & Skittles. (after fav candies)
Those two were trouble makers & didn't stay long. Our neighbor took them & always shares a story about their problem-solving abilities and recent escapades.

Lol I couldnt do things like drumstick or nugget. Too on the nose for me.

As for the Butter suggestion, well weve been told repeatedly we need a third dog name butter. So we could have Peanut Butter and Cookie.

Drumstick is cute for sure. I have names for all my pets and having chickens for around 20 journeys around the sun, went thru many names. I never reuse a name like they never reuse a number of famous sports figures once retired. Started out with chicken themed ones like Tyson, Purdue, Jenny-o. Then had to look elsewhere for names. Now currently since I only keep hens, I give them Girl names. Mary Jane, Rosie, Pebbles, (from Flintstones), Ashes (my version of Ashley), Krissie, Elisabeth, and Dorothy. On a sad note, Dorothy is MIA for about a weak now. She is the Golden Laced Polish in the pix.. Her sisters sure miss her.

When I overload my brain trying to find a name I CHEAT...

More on Drumsticks....
The fact that he's a chicken is actually only a small part of his name's story.
His legs are very long & I jokingly started comparing him to DH - who's 6'5" with very long legs. DH's nickname in early HS was Sticks, so this roo reminds me of when I 1st met DH back in the 1980s.
:lau:love
Perhaps there are a few reasons why I've been keeping this roo around.

Completely unrelated question.. is this a normal summer level of thunderstorms? We got them in Michigan, but I think this is a bit more than that. Poor Jack (the only non food animal name because he came with me into the relationship, got him as a teenager) is old and has issues with his liver and thyroid. Storms really scare him :( I am wondering if I need to get him a thunder jacket...

Not really sure what "normal" is anymore.
We used to always have a wet April with possible flooding followed by a nice May-June. Around mid/late June, things would start to dry up so not much grass mowing July-Aug. Other than a few days here & there, this year has been much cooler than normal. We've been hearing some of the thunder, but the bulk of the rain has been skipping us. I had to water the garden this weekend.

If your poor dog is scared of noises, then the calming coat sounds like a good idea. Our dogs hate fireworks & thunder, so they're not happy about the noises either.
