I bred my eggs! I have a total of 16 birds right now. I got most from a breeder in Ohio, and show them.
I currently am keeping all my eggs, and have another interested in Chicks, but if they do happen to be Roos, then they’ll need new homes, and I’ll let you know!
Where are you in Illinois? There are a few sales starting soon that usually have a couple Moderns.

We're in DuPage Co. (Western suburbs of Chicago)
We saw our 1st Bantam Modern Game chickens at the IL State Fair and fell in love with those crazy long legs. DH is 6'5" and shares a similar body type. It seems fitting that we should have one. LOL I guess I'm more of an orpington & DD's a silkie. Not sure about DS, but at the moment the Spitzhauben is his fav bird. UhOh! His high school years may be rough.....

Got 3 more chicks....and more pips.
I started the bantams a little later because I was told they hatch on days 19-20. So far only 2 serama eggs have pips. Nothing on the OEG & silkie eggs.

These two really want to get out of the incubator already!

13th This was supposed to be a gold laced orp. Oops. My friend must have picked up an egg from his blk/lav split orp instead of the GLO. (Only roo there is a laced orp, so we'll see how this one feathers out.)

Yes. It's about an hour drive. I don't know the area, but we've driven through.
Sorry for the late reply! But on April 8th, there is a sale at Kankakee fairgrounds, stated at about 4:00 am going until midday, and there are usually some MGB there! I won’t be going this time around, but the first couple how’s Are usually full, with chicks and other chickens being cleared out for spring!

Last pics for today.
Here are the little bantams:
Hatch numbers 15-26

.... and a couple not photographed yet.

I got 4 seramas

4 OEG (1 just hatched & still drying off)

7 silkies (1 of them = showgirl)

Here's my 11-30 hatch (the female). She looks good so far, but I hope to sell her soon. (Too many orps......and more on the way )

I also found it funny seeing the lav in the background digging a hole to China.

Chicks are hatching today. Woke up to 4 peeping orps in the incubator!

They're not much to look at yet.
1 black orp (Mom is my silver laced, so the lav or blk/lav split roo must have fertilized that egg)
1 lav orp
1 yellow chick came from my buff Colombian; Laced orp is probably the daddy
The Mom looked like this as a chick & now:

1 yellow chick with stripe came from my blue laced orp. Her chick looks just like her.

Awwwwe too cute!!!

So jealous. ;)

Can't wait for peeps.

Speaking of did our first candling of quail eggs of the year. Easter hatch along eggs.

Bad news only 2 maiybe 3 swimmers.

Out of I think it was 35 eggs set 18 had damage tonight at candling. Hairline cracks... Perhaps they were partially frozen when I brought them in. Unusually I didn't candle the eggs before setting them this time around because I had only collected the previous two days.

18 cracked eggs
2 swimmers and 1 ?
And it looks like 14 clears. Ouch bad odds but I knew most probably wouldn't be fertile. Our little male in that group is prejudiced against the A& Ms. Idk why. He also hadn't been in with them long after being too rough on the Pharoah girls in the group. He had been separated for a break for them.

Unfortunately over the weekend we lost one of our two Pharoah females to what I believe was a blockage in her digestive tract. She went down hill very quickly and we decided culling was the most humane when we couldn't get her to turn around. Always a hard decision to make.

I don't know for sure but I'm hoping that those eggs may contain her babies.

This is our worst numbers ever except for some shipped eggs a couple years ago(when cracked open most of those weren't even fertile). I suspect the two quail eggs developing were the only two fertile eggs.
