Blain's Farm and Fleet, is where I buy mine. I just recently (5 years) found out about PDZ. I use it as a base layer under my hay that is on coop floor. Same in loft area. It absorbs well. Keeps things from smelling unpleasant. In my new coop, that will have poop drawers, (under roosts) PDZ will be my choice.
I may experiment with a mix of sand and PDZ.

Yes. I agree. If they walked up to his backdoor and pooped on his patio, I could understand..... but the wooded brush?????

I wonder if he has a garden he is worried about them finding?

Or he is like me about people in the back woods, my land not theirs. We all pay high taxes and I don't want someone else to use it, even though I don't.

No, he doesn't have a secret garden. He has a racetrack snaking through the woods for his kids 4 wheelers. (Which of course got trashed with all the windstorms)
I forgot to mention, they had chickens when we moved in. They got rid of them shortly after we got ours. Kids said one was aggressive and they pooped everywhere in the fenced in area they use for their dog. (Fenced in portion is 50+yards away)

I think they dont like when they hang out on the edge and the roos will crow. With as much land as we have, they really dont crow unless i go out there or they see something like a hawk. With the new fence, that wont change either, so i dont know what the whole point is unless like molpet said, they dont want anyone touching their land even though they dont use it.

Is 26 weeks early to be broody? Maybe she is just laying ? I don't think her eggs are large enough to be successful. First day I've seen her stay here so I'll have to keep an eye.
And why does she like poop? Her whole life she always hides under the other chickens every night.

Its a little early for a larger breed, but not unheard of. Her eggs may or may not hatch. Are any of your other chickens laying that are older? You could mark them and switch them out and she can set those.

Ok l jumped the gun, she was just laying. Good. Not ready for chicks yet. Hopefully summer. I have black australorp rooster, 2 BA hens, RIR hens, gold comet hens, and 1 gold wyandotte hen. If anyone would be interested later this year.

Not likely that she likes poop,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, She must be bottom of pecking order, and not able to get a spot on roost bar.
