Illinois...

At least you had a good time. Maybe your co workers will think you got a vacation.

So where would you go for vacation? (if the whole Covid19 wasn't an issue)
Open question to anyone.
We were actually planning to go to the Dells for a weekend st the end of the month. Probably not going to go up there at all this year now. We still hope to make a trip to Tennessee later this year, probably early Fall, to visit my in-laws.

I did check their vents too but my son had a hard time taking pictures that weren't fuzzy and I am definitely not experienced enough to know for sure what I'm seeing anyway.
I am not sure if this can be done/applies to older chicks, but here is a video that explains what to look for on day old chicks. I posted this same video other day on a different thread. It is not my video BTW. Once you do click on it,, it requests to be viewed on YouTube, so appropriately click that option.

I was nervous about little quail feet slipping through the holes but didn't want to block air flow which could mess with humidity. I compromised and put in a small sheet of paper towel. However the fan was blowing it around, so I needed to return the egg turner to hold it in place.

I read on one of the threads about your incubator model. A solution peeps used was using the Non Slip Shelf Liner material to achieve the fall thru the grates foot issue. It is soft, spongy, and perforated to allow air flow.
BTW,,, I do like this inki. If I was incubating eggs, I think it would be my choice. Like the viewing it provides. :thumbsup

That's exactly what I use in my other incubators..... but since we're skipping store visits, I don't have any on hand. I didn't want to cut up my pieces from the other incubators. This incubator was by far the easiest to set up and use. The built-in candler is wicked bright. (I had to block the light with my hand between switching eggs or I might accidentally blind myself.

BTW- The quail pip is growing and we're seeing movement!

The quail has arrived!
:wee

After it hatched I put a couple pieces of the shelf liner in the incubator. (The little quail feet can definitely fall through the flooring.) It's cut to fit my other incubator, so hopefully the quail won't get stuck under any of the folds. It's only going to be in there for a little while to dry off.

Then I'll start my next hatch!!!
