Illinois...

Thanks. And thank you all for the help..... AGAIN! Lol. Cant wait till I can circulate some of this wisdom you all have imbued upon me.
Rooster is black australorp. Hens are either black australorp, RIR, GLW, or Gold Comet. Most of the eggs looked like GC but the 5 chicks all so far are black. One of them is almost surprisingly black lol.

Adorable! Now comes all the fun pics and stories.

I used to take lots of pics of my kids...... Now I take a lot of chicken photos. LOL (It goes with the addiction.) BTW- Now that you'll have an incubator, the addiction only grows.

I'm afraid after these chicks I'm done for this year. Incubator gets stored. Its already more than I wanted (but not by much I guess) for this year. 100% fertility lol. Rooster works. No duds
Going to build rollaway nest box so I have more say over eggs.

On a separate note at 8 weeks my CX are probably averaging 6.5 pounds. Big lady 7.1 little guy 5.9.
Now the challenge of turning 3 CX into layers. Hopefully they aren't too big already.

Saw one for $35...... read reviews and lots of people said it cooked their eggs
Hopefully this one is good.

OK,,, I do have a serious side also.. I suggest you slip in a couple unfertilized eggs into it and check the temperature after running it 2 or more days. Then compare the temperature on your thermometer reading with what the setting is set to. Adjust set temperature to your desired temperature that you get on your remote thermometer. You may have to set it to run At 95°F or whatever:idunno on your setting, to achieve the desired 100.5°F INSIDE.
I have a feeling, INKI may have a tendency to run a LIL HOT:mad: according to the reviews you read.
After your fine-tuning, toss those eggs, unless you are feeling LUCKY,,
On a second thought,,,,, cook the eggs totally in boiling water, and serve up to your chickens. Crack open and see if ok for them:old
I think doing as I mentioned above would solve that dilemma.
I have other options up my sleeve, that would require external control. but that is another option that would be best to not have to take.:thumbsup

The reviews from this one were better. This conversation is spilled over from another thread. I am stuck with partially developed eggs and broody hen is done sitting. Even a questionable incubator would be better than the heat lamp setup in the garage.
Unfertilized eggs? My rooster works over time and so far 100% fertility :bow.
9 hens and I still have to order saddles for his 2 favorite :bow

I only suggested unfertilized, so you don't get some eggs going,,,,, unintentionally.
And that is for the testing.
I now recall you have the half baked situation with the eggs your broody abandoned,
Sure,,, go for it with what you have and GOOD LUCK,,:highfive:
