Illinois...

Hi All- I’m a Chicken lover from Elgin, IL(50 mi NW of Chicago).

looking for a rooster
🍃Tree
What breed? Faraday 40 usually has orps and homeschoolin had some a while back

Unless someone returns a spring cockerel, I only have chicks available now. I'm sure there will be a male or 2 in there if you can wait a couple months. Once I select next year's breeder, I may rehome our current lav orp. (Probably in October)

@homeschoolin momma has a few cockerels. Her 2 black orps make very funny noises when you pick them up. LOL She also has a beautiful, mature serama rooster with a Napoleon complex.

Yes, I have 2 gorgeous almost 5 month old black English cockerels. BIG birds. Needing new homes or volunteering for freezer camp.
And yes, my little serama roo Jasper definitely has a napoleon complex.😂

We had a very busy Thursday. I sold some of my "useless chickens" yesterday. 2 females & then a male. I loved them very much, but it also feels good to get the numbers down. (Especially since I have more chicks hatching next week!)

The girls went for a long 4 hour ride back home. Parmesian (brown girl) loves car rides. The other little white one was vocal at the start but settled quickly.

The pretty white boy went to a local home.

I also sold my pretty SLO pullet. Such a sweetie. She went to the perfect home where she'll be a very spoiled pet.

Im surprised you didnt throw Lonely into the deal for free.😂

Lonely is already adopted,,,,,, just not picked up yet. Giving her some last days to say her goodbye's
You're adopting her?!? That's fantastic! She really is a sweetheart. Shes had the most interesting upbringing for sure. She wont be "lonely" at your place. Im sure you'll find a more fitting name for her. I also hope she'll turn into that "beautiful swan" while under your care.

Lonely name will stay. :love ... A name change can possibly cause sociological trauma,
I am wondering if Faraday would have another chicken to accompany Lonely home. I don't want a huge orpington though. I like to introduce newcomers as pairs. @Faraday40 , I will be over some time after Monday Labor day. . Will be with family out of town, and my neighbor will see that my chickens are tucked in at dusk. Would not want to put him thru searching for new chicks not yet coop trained.

Made the trip out to Mississippi palisades state park in Savanna. It is a gorgeous park, good suggestion. Didn't get to see a lit of the park on account of the 3 hour commute and plans to see DW aunt. But will plan again
Know that park like the back of my hand,,,,,, :thumbsup
Next time you are out that way, consider an additional 40 miles into Iowa, to Maquoketa Caves.

I will definitely check that out.. have you been to Cave of the Mounds in Wisconsin? I haven't been there in years but it was really cool. Went a few times.
