Illinois...

I was out of town for a few days, left the boys in charge of the chickens. Big girls are fine. Babies...oh the poor babies. They are fine NOW but apparently I never told them that if the brooder gets really dusty WATER is not the answer. I came home to soppy wet puddles in my PDZs. It was disgusting and the chicks were not happy. Everything was caked up. I read them the riot act and them made them help me clean it all up. Babies are much happier now trilling along after a solid hour long dust bath. Ugh! Welcome home, mom!!! 😂

Happy Veteran's Day!

I spent more time securing my plastic tarp and it's still not done. Next year, I am inviting over a bunch of friends for a beers and tarp party and get this bad boy done fast instead of trying to do it all myself in the wind. LOL!!!

But the babies are outside with the big girls (separated still) so I have a little taste of what it will be like when they move out. I am definitely ready for the brooder to be out of my office again. Just hope I can get them moved out before we get any snow. ❄

I have another REAL holiday today. I can do yardwork, build the tractor, play with chickens. The possibilities are endless!

And its cold outside.😒
Hope you enjoyed your "day off"

My DH had the day off, so he decided to go to the dentist. He thought it would be a 1 hr appointment to replace a filling that fell out. It turned into a 3 hour extraction (oral surgery). Now he's sore and can't eat for a couple days. Poor guy!

No pun intended, and not from your own chickens, but make some chicken soup. We eat chicken soup regularly:drool:drool:drool
