Used to cut our own. Still are a few Christmas tree farms around.
I hate to promote big box stores but menards has had a good selection of real trees. We've bought from the tree lot locations before but every time the tree barely limps to Christmas and almost had to throw one out before Christmas. Menards trees have been consistent for us. DW prefers white pine (usually $20) while I prefer Fraser or Douglass fir (usually $40, expensivethis year) so we alternate years.
I never did cut my own tree. When it's time to cut the pine trees in my yard I'm going to top the blue spruce and use it as a tree 👍.

We gave our turkey an extra day to rest, so Friday was our big meal.
Broth is in the slow cooker.
Tonight it's turkey sandwiches on fresh herb bread. :drool

I think I'd do it again next year. Fresh heritage birds just have better flavor.
Did the kids eat it? Was it last year they didn't?

A use for old political signs....... nesting box in the chicken tractor.
Probably would have been quicker to use plywood but this was a personal challenge.

I love it!
Honestly, that nest box is probably better than the signs' original use.
(No comment on politics. Just don't like all the signs people put in our yard without permission. )
