I'm a bawkaholic....

Hi, I'm chicken-mama and I'm a bawkaholic. It started 3 years ago when I decided I wanted "only" 5 hens and a rooster. Just for fun, but also for a 'few' eggs.

My little flock had grown to about 20. Until this year that is........

I took in 10 chicks, then a broody hatched a loner who now thinks I'm shim's mama (I'm still holding out for a pullet). I re-homed 3 polish chicks and took in (altogether) 6 grown hens from friends.

Now I'm at 30 and in need of yet another coop expansion! LOL!! I think DH thinks I'm out of my gourd!

Anybody else find they've perhaps OD'd on chicks this year?

Well i think i have the same problem, but with less chickens(WAY LESS!)

Well I said to my self, id only have 2 chickens about a year ago.

SO then i did, but one turned out to be a roo, and i traded for 2 more hens

Well then a wild rooster came here and took one of my hens

THen i got 3 chickies who died

Then I got 2 more chickies that I traded for one of my hens.

Then I am fostering a little baby roo

Now i find myself selling the roo for a polish mix, or 2 seramas...

I started out w/ just 10 this Spring... for a few eggs!

But after reading all the posts on here... I had DH build the coop BIG enough for more b/c I just knew I'd become a "bawkaholic" too!

So it's designed to easily seperate and make different sections if need be, and we also plan on adding to the run in the next year. We don't need to now, just see ourselves getting more and more.

It's so easy! They're just so darn cute running around in the yard. Plus all my family are anxiously awaiting eggs! When I see or talk to them they say "got eggs yet?"
