I'm a chick killer!

What kind of shavings are you using? If they are cedar, get rid of them immediately and replace with pine. Cedar is really bad for poultry.

I sure hope your luck changes.

We are reaching 95 - 100 degrees here in the daytime and 85 - 90 at night. It just now got cooler at night thanks to Gustav, but all of my casualties happened on warm nights. Should I upgrade again to a 60 watt bulb?

Thanks

Oh, I missed the shavings part. They are on pine shavings and clean hay (not dusty or moldy). The hay and shavings are not mixed, just in different areas of the cage so that the chickies can figure out what they like best. They do enjoy hopping up on the rock under the light, but they also seem to mill around the cage quite a bit.

I think it could have something to do with the feed, I read another post on here once about how chicks SHOULD NOT eat layer pellets b/c it can cause kidney issues and they can die !!!!

Good luck and keep us posted !!!!
